[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will reopen the Songpa Children's English Library on the 13th after completing expansion construction.
Opened in 2011 on the 4th and 5th floors of the Sincheon Stormwater Pump Station, the Songpa Children's English Library is a specialized children's English library that has consistently been loved by Songpa residents, with over 500 daily users on average.
Accordingly, Songpa-gu began expansion construction in May to provide better services to users, expanding the previously vacant 4th-floor space by 176㎡ to a total of 772㎡.
With this construction, the library has been transformed into a resident-friendly open specialized library by ▲renovating the interior of the infant and toddler room ▲expanding the reading room to allow plenty of sunlight ▲adding two program rooms for program operation and club activities.
At 11 a.m. on the day, the district will commemorate the expansion of the Songpa Children's English Library with an opening performance of the Songpa Saem biography book and a screening of congratulatory video messages from overseas authors and library users, marking the reopening.
Additionally, to alleviate residents' difficulties in reading and leisure activities caused by COVID-19, various online and offline programs will be launched, including ▲online book talks ▲alphabet poster making ▲world culture storytelling ▲an English library photo event using Instagram.

Mayor Park Seong-su stated, “With this reopening, we will strive to make the Children's English Library a distinctive library where visitors can experience world cultures beyond just borrowing books,” adding, “I hope it becomes a space that offers some strength during these difficult times caused by COVID-19.”
