The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Seo Chun-soo, Hamyang County Governor; Ryu Jae-eung, Chief of Hamyang Police Station; Lee Jong-yoon, Director of Hamyang Office of Education; Park Chang-oh, Director of National Forest Management Office; Lee Jung-nam, President of the Forest Managers Association of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam; as well as heads of institutions and local residents.
The Hamyang Wood Culture Experience Center, constructed with an investment of 5.2 billion KRW since 2013, is an experiential cultural space where visitors can feel the benefits of wood through all five senses by providing comprehensive information on wood production and usage, including a children's wooden playground, exhibition hall, and sawmill.
The children's wooden playground is covered with cypress granules that feel like sand. Children can dig and carry wood using woodworking tools on the cypress granules, enjoying hands-on experience with wood.
Additionally, the indoor forest bathing room filled with the scent of cypress offers a refreshing aroma that helps heal the mind and body tired from daily life.
The woodworking experience room allows children, students, and the general public to create wooden crafts such as bookstands, flowerpot stands, wood speakers, and bread cutting boards.
The exhibition hall displays Hamyang's wood heritage, pine wood samples, and various uses and applications of wood, categorized by different wood species.
The digital tree rings program uses video media to evoke memories and emotions related to trees, and visitors can leave their records in a digital guestbook.
The sawmill is a space where visitors can process wood using tools like planes and cutters to experience woodworking.
Outdoor adventure towers, children's zip lines, and miniature villages within the pine forest park offer various experiences that cannot be felt at other regional wood experience centers.
Admission is free, and woodworking experience events include making mobile phone stands, pencil holders, wooden clocks, and there are also packages available for outdoor adventure play.
