Professor Choi Yoon-hee of Pukyong National University Receives the ‘Sajo Fisheries Award’ from the Korean Society of Fisheries Sciences
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Professor Choi Yoon-hee of Pukyong National University (Department of Marine Bio New Materials) received the 2020 Sajo Fisheries Award from the Korean Society of Fisheries Science (President Heo Min-soo).
Professor Choi was awarded the academic prize at the 2020 Korean Society of Fisheries Science International Conference held at BEXCO in Busan on November 6.
The Sajo Fisheries Award (Academic Prize) is given to researchers who have made significant contributions to the development of fisheries. It is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the fisheries academic community.
Professor Choi was recognized for her contributions to training high-level professionals in the field of fisheries science while working as a co-researcher at the Pukyong National University Fisheries Science Research Institute, a university-focused research center selected by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
She has contributed to domestic fisheries policy and industry development by serving as a member of the Central Fisheries Coordination Committee of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, a member of the Busan Regional Innovation Council, and a committee member of the International Fisheries EXPO.

Conducting research to elucidate the growth and reproduction mechanisms of major cultured species, she has published 51 SCI-level papers and 19 papers in journals registered with the National Research Foundation, contributing to the academic advancement of fisheries science in Korea. She is also evaluated for researching the fundamental principles related to growth of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) in aquatic organisms, presenting new biological indicators related to growth.
