If You Cheer for Fall Baseball, Just One Call to '080' Instead of a QR Code
KT Offers Free 080 Call Check-In at Gocheok Sky Dome
Replacing Manual Logs or QR Codes to Track Confirmed Cases' Movements
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] At Gocheok Sky Dome, where the professional baseball playoff games are held, visitors will be able to check in via an 080 phone call instead of filling out a visitor log.
On the 9th, KT announced that it will provide the ‘080 Call Check-in’ service free of charge at Gocheok Sky Dome to support safe cheering during the 2020 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Postseason.
‘080 Call Check-in’ is a service that replaces the visitor log recording required for COVID-19 prevention with a simple phone call. Without any additional equipment installation, visitors just need to call the KT 080 toll-free number, and the visitor log is completed within 3 seconds.
Facilities like baseball stadiums, where many people gather at once, often require long waits in line to fill out handwritten visitor logs, or the handwriting on the logs can be difficult to read. QR code-based check-in methods have the disadvantage of being difficult for vulnerable groups such as the elderly who are not familiar with smartphones or who use feature phones.
KT decided to provide this service free of charge to help ensure safe cheering during the professional baseball postseason and to support the victory of KT Wiz, who advanced to the playoffs for the first time since their founding.
From the 9th until the end of the postseason, spectators entering through the five entrances of Gocheok Sky Dome can call the number displayed on banners, and the call will be completed with a message saying “Your visit registration has been completed.” Then, a text message containing the phrase “Your visit registration has been confirmed” along with the registration time will be sent to the visitor’s mobile phone, and showing this text message at the entrance is sufficient.
The 080 Call Check-in service only leaves a call log as proof of visit, so there is no risk of the visitor log being exposed to others, and since it is a toll-free number, visitors do not have to pay for the call.
KT provides the 080 Call Check-in service to local governments and institutions nationwide by utilizing KT’s largest domestic network and number resources. So far, 25,000 lines have been activated, and daily usage has exceeded 50,000 calls.
