Jeong Eun-ji and Lee Juck Sing... SKT's VR Concert Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] SK Telecom announced on the 9th that it will implement the untact concert 'Buruda (a Voice Uniquely Recorded in Diverse Area) Project,' which provides VR videos of performances by popular singers at domestic tourist attractions to comfort the people exhausted by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This project was prepared to vividly deliver performances by famous singers held at ecologically, culturally, and historically meaningful domestic sites to the public, conveying messages of comfort and encouragement in a situation where it is difficult to watch performances and travel due to COVID-19.
The 'Buruda Project' offers VR content of performances by popular singers such as Jung Eunji, DAY6, and Lee Juck at domestic tourist attractions like Gwangmyeong Cave and the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum. The VR content can be viewed from today on SK Telecom's VR platform 'jump VR' application.
The newly produced VR content applies immersive audio technology to help viewers experience realistic sensations. Through immersive audio technology, sounds such as the wind at the site and echoes characteristic of the location are vividly captured, and as the viewer's gaze moves, the sound effects change, allowing the viewer to enjoy the performance as if they were actually there, the company added.
Song Gwanghyun, head of SK Telecom's PR2 Office, said, "We hope that the VR content produced this time will be a small comfort and encouragement to the people suffering from COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to do our best to bring happiness to people through advanced ICT technology based on 5G."
