'Collateral' Breaks Even... Performs Well in Vietnam Too
Attracting 1.7 Million Viewers in 41 Days Since Release... Hong Kong and Indonesia Releases Upcoming
Distributor CJ Entertainment announced that the film Dam-bo surpassed its break-even point on the 8th. On that day at 4:27 PM, the cumulative audience reached 1,700,639 viewers. Released on September 29, it exceeded the break-even point of 1.7 million viewers in 41 days. This is a meaningful achievement amid the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Despite theaters operating at only half capacity, the film consistently ranked within the top three at the box office. In particular, it held the top spot for two weeks from September 30 to October 14. Dam-bo is also performing well overseas. It topped the box office for two consecutive weeks in Vietnam, where it was released on the 9th of last month. A representative stated, “We expect success in Hong Kong and Indonesia, where the film is set to be released soon.” Directed by Kang Dae-gyu, Dam-bo is a drama about two loan sharks, Du-seok and Jong-bae, who unexpectedly end up taking care of a nine-year-old boy named Seung-i as collateral. The film stars Sung Dong-il, Kim Hee-won, Park So-i, and Ha Ji-won.
