[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Imports of poultry and poultry meat from the United Kingdom, where highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has occurred, have been banned.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that highly pathogenic H5N8 AI was detected at a broiler breeder farm in Cheshire, northwest England, and from the 4th, imports of poultry and poultry meat from the UK will be prohibited.
The import ban applies to live poultry (including pet birds and wild birds), day-old chicks, hatching eggs and table eggs, poultry meat such as chicken and duck, and poultry products.
