Assemblyman Yongbin Lee: "The 3rd Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Should Be Actively Considered"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Congressman Lee Yong-bin (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangsan-gu Gap, Gwangju) has actively requested consideration for the payment of a third emergency disaster relief fund.
On the 4th, during the National Assembly audit of the Presidential Secretariat, Congressman Lee told Kim Sang-gon, Chief of the Blue House Policy Office, “The disaster relief funds provided twice have been effective in revitalizing domestic demand,” and added, “We must thoroughly monitor the damage and difficulties on the ground continuously and ensure that timely support measures are established and implemented.”
He continued, “Although economic growth indicators are rebounding and showing a rapid recovery speed, the problem is that domestic demand has not yet fully recovered, so the public’s perception of the economy is not very positive,” and stated, “The nationwide disaster relief fund paid in June and the reduction of individual consumption tax greatly helped stimulate domestic demand, but it collapsed again due to the resurgence of COVID-19 in August.”
He also explained, “When visiting the field, self-employed individuals, small business owners, and small and medium-sized enterprises are being pushed into increasingly difficult situations, making the situation much more serious,” and said, “Although the government has promoted various support measures such as disaster relief funds, loans, special guarantees, and market development through four supplementary budgets so far, difficulties are still being voiced on the ground.”
