Hapcheon-gun, Government Joint Evaluation Forest Sector 'Excellent'
Evaluation of Forest Resource Development Achievement Rate, Forest Road Facility Performance, Wildfire Prevention, and Forest Pest and Disease Control Outcomes
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 5th that it achieved an 'Excellent' rating in the 2020 Joint Government Evaluation for Local Governments in the Forestry Sector conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Forest Service.
In this joint evaluation of local governments in the forestry sector, scores were assigned for each evaluation item such as the achievement rate of sustainable forest resource development in 2019, forest road facility performance, forest fire prevention, and forest pest control performance. Hapcheon-gun achieved the targets in 5 out of 6 integrated evaluation indicators.
Last year, Hapcheon-gun promoted afforestation projects covering 85.6 hectares (94% survival rate) for forest resource development and forest tending projects over 500 hectares. It successfully carried out forestry projects including the expansion of forest road facilities by 152.1 km to strengthen forest management infrastructure and prevent disasters, as well as forest fire prevention and forest pest control for forest protection.
