Naver Papago Translates Instantly When You Take a Photo
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver Papago has introduced the 'Instant Translation' feature that translates text within images immediately.
According to Naver on the 4th, the image instant translation feature is available in a total of six languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai.
When users take a photo of an image they want to translate using the Papago app, they can instantly see the translation overlaid on the image, matching the context of the text.
This new feature simplifies the previous process where users had to manually select the words they wanted to translate by swiping over them in the image translation function provided by Papago.
By providing the translation directly on the image, users can see the translated text while preserving the original information such as the text’s position, color, and size, maintaining the importance conveyed by these visual elements.
For example, when taking a photo of street signs or menus with the Papago app and using 'Instant Translation,' users can see the translated text along with the direction of the signs and pictures of food within the image, allowing them to confirm translations that are more appropriate to the situation.
