LG Uplus Operates Online 5-Day Market to Promote Traditional Market Consumption
Held 6 times every 5 days from the 5th to the 30th
20% of purchase amount saved as funds, donated to the Rural-Urban Win-Win Cooperation Fund
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus will operate the 'U+Road Online 5-Day Market' starting from the 5th to revitalize traditional market consumption, which has been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
U+Road is a program run by LG Uplus since 2018 that partners with small business owners in neighborhood commercial districts to offer discounts, prize events, and other promotions to invigorate local markets. In line with the contactless consumption trend caused by COVID-19, an online agricultural products market was operated in April.
The U+Road Online 5-Day Market follows the concept of a traditional 5-day market, opening on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th of each month. At 10 a.m., the products for sale that day are revealed and sold on a first-come, first-served basis with a limited quantity of 5,000 units. Prices are half of the market price, and shipping is free.
On the first day, the 5th, five representative products from Yangpyeong Mulmalgeun Market and Jungbu Market will be sold: ▲ 2kg of scallops ▲ 2kg of ark shells ▲ 1kg of large clams ▲ 2 large semi-dried squid ▲ mackerel and Spanish mackerel.
Following days will feature various themed markets: on the 10th, Fresh Fruit Market; on the 15th, Hearty Meat Market; on the 20th, Hot Soup Market; on the 25th, 0kcal Late-night Snack Market; and on the 30th, Snack Market. Detailed information about the products sold on each date can be found on the event menu of the website (http://asq.kr/7juTmbWV4k320).

LG Uplus will donate 20% of the amount customers spend purchasing traditional market products at the U+Road Online 5-Day Market to the Rural-Urban Win-Win Cooperation Fund, which is separately funded. The donations will be used to reduce the information gap in rural areas and support elderly farmers.
