Democratic Party Gwangju Branch: "We Will Keep the Spirit of the Gwangju Student Independence Movement in Our Hearts"

The Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju Metropolitan City Party stated this in a commentary on the 3rd.
The Democratic Party Gwangju City Party explained, “The Gwangju Student Independence Movement was ignited by a clash between Korean and Japanese students on the commuter train between Gwangju and Naju on October 30, 1929,” adding, “The movement began in Gwangju on November 3, 1929, and lasted until March of the following year, involving more than 320 schools nationwide in a widespread youth independence movement.”
They continued, “The fact that the students’ uprising, united by a sense of justice and spirit of independence, started in Gwangju makes its significance even deeper,” emphasizing, “The Democratic Party of Korea engraves the righteous spirit of Gwangju’s struggle in its heart.”
Furthermore, “Since the Moon Jae-in administration, the commemorative event has been elevated to a government ceremony jointly hosted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Ministry of Education since 2018, honoring the meaning of the anniversary at the government level,” and added, “The Democratic Party Gwangju City Party pledges to reflect on the noble spirit of the Gwangju Student Independence Movement today and to build a more just and unwavering nation.”
