[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Defense Intelligence Agency reportedly reported multiple instances of North Korean soldiers burning the bodies of victims during the National Assembly audit on the 2nd. In response, the Ministry of National Defense stated, "There is no new evidence."
On the 3rd, Moon Hong-sik, deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, explained at a regular briefing, "Regarding the Defense Intelligence Agency chief's response about the mutilation of bodies yesterday, I understand that there is no new evidence and that it was conducted on the same basis as the existing position."
He added, "We said there were signs of gunfire and body mutilation based on the analysis of various intelligence reports rather than direct eyewitness accounts of the scene, and that position remains unchanged."
Participants in the National Assembly Intelligence Committee audit on the 2nd reported that the Defense Intelligence Agency had reported multiple instances of North Korean soldiers burning the bodies of victims but could not explain specifically what those circumstances were.
