View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] At the "23rd National Hanwoo Ability Evaluation Contest" held to enhance the quality of Hanwoo beef, Kim Gil-hong, CEO of Hwangyong Livestock in Sabal-myeon, Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk, received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award.
According to Sangju City on the 3rd, the Hanwoo submitted by CEO Kim was recognized as one of the best Hanwoo with a shipping weight of 907 kg, carcass weight (weight of the body part after slaughter) of 554 kg, loin eye area of 147 cm², meat yield index of 63.8 points, and grade 1++A (KPN1009).
At the awards ceremony held on the 30th of last month at the Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute in Sejong City, CEO Kim said, "I feel rewarded to have my efforts in improving Hanwoo and establishing a Hanwoo foundation through thorough pedigree management and rational feeding management recognized."
Kang Young-seok, mayor of Sangju City, stated, "Sangju Hanwoo is known as 'Myeongsilsanggam Hanwoo,' which has unique characteristics due to being raised on persimmon peels, distinguishing it from Hanwoo in other regions," and emphasized, "We will continue to spare no support to contribute to the production of premium meat and increase farmers' income through focused brand cultivation and strengthened on-site livestock consulting."
