Report of Suspected Highly Pathogenic AI at a Meat Duck Farm in Gochang, Jeonbuk
Precise Testing Underway at Jeonbuk Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] A suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been reported at a meat duck farm in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on the 2nd, the farm raises about 15,000 meat ducks. The farm recently observed suspicious symptoms such as an increase in mortality among 8-day-old chicks and reported it to the Jeonbuk Animal Health Testing Laboratory.
The Ministry immediately dispatched an initial response team to the site upon the report and collected samples. Currently, detailed tests are underway at the Jeonbuk Animal Health Testing Laboratory.
