[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] A mobile health insurance card that can be checked via smartphone has been released.
The National Health Insurance Service announced on the 2nd that it has launched a mobile health insurance card issuance service. This comes 43 years after the Service began issuing paper health insurance cards in 1977.
The mobile health insurance card is said to offer greater convenience and security compared to the paper health insurance card. A Service official stated, "Carrying the paper health insurance card separately was inconvenient, but the mobile health insurance card can be easily checked on a smartphone, resolving the inconvenience of carrying it."

The mobile health insurance card can be viewed by logging in with a certified certificate through the 'The Geongangboheom (The Health Insurance)' app. The The Geongangboheom app can be downloaded from the App Store (for iPhone), Play Store, and One Store (for Android).
