Daegu Facilities Corporation's Coach Jo Hyunjin Appointed as Head Coach of National Shooting Team
"Winning Two Gold Medals at Next Year's Tokyo Olympics Is a Must"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Daegu Facilities Corporation (Chairman Kim Ho-kyung) announced on the 2nd that Clay Shooting Team coach Cho Hyun-jin has been appointed as the head coach of the national shooting team, the first among shooting team coaches in the Daegu area.
Coach Cho, who also serves as the Chairman of the Sports Fairness Committee of the Korea Shooting Federation, will lead the South Korean national shooting team until August 1, 2021.
As the pillar of a shooting family spanning three generations and influenced by his father, Coach Cho first stepped into shooting as a clay (trap) athlete in 1983. He earned a master's degree in physical education from Gyeongnam University and obtained a Level 1 shooting coach certification. From 2005 to 2017, he served as the coach for Changwon City Hall and the national shotgun team.
In 2018, under Coach Cho Hyun-jin's leadership, athlete Shin Hyun-woo won the gold medal in the double trap event at the Jakarta Palembang Asian Games, once again proving his capabilities as a shooting team coach.
Coach Cho Hyun-jin stated, "We will definitely achieve two gold medals in the 10m women's pistol and air rifle events at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics," adding, "Compared to other sports, shooting has been somewhat stagnant, so we will recruit and nurture outstanding talents to popularize the sport and do our best to cultivate another gold medal-winning event at international competitions."
