Gwangyang City Creates 'Kkumtree (TREE) Playground' to Foster Children's Imagination
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced on the 2nd that it has created the Dream Tree Playground, a play space that nurtures children's imagination, within Usan Park in Gwangyang-eup, covering an area of 1,580㎡ with a project cost of 200 million KRW.
The Dream Tree Playground is located in an ecological forest area that connects habitats of wild animals and plants, breaking away from the conventional playground framework. It features play facilities that allow children to engage in imaginative and adventurous activities while experiencing ecology.
The play facilities include a total of eight items such as a zip line, combination play equipment, single-log bridge crossing, balancing activities, net climbing, bench swings, and slides, all designed to stimulate children's imagination as they freely run and play in nature.
In particular, around the playground, there is a flower observation garden for plant observation and exploration, an ecological trail mounding tunnel play structure, and a hill slide, allowing children to play in a nature-friendly environment that is expected to aid their sensitivity and emotional development.
Jung Sang-beom, Director of the Parks and Greenery Division, said, "The playground is a place that helps children's physical and emotional growth, and we hope it becomes a Dream Tree space where they can freely play and connect with nature."
Meanwhile, reflecting survey results from the city hall website and others, the playground was named "Dream Tree (TREE) Playground," meaning to let children's wriggling imagination and dreams unfold freely.
