Collaborating to Secure Budget for 36 National Projects Next Year (22 New Projects · 132.3 Billion KRW)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the morning of the 2nd, Daegu City held a budget policy consultation meeting at City Hall with the 'People Power Party Livelihood Policy Discovery Group' to secure next year's national budget and discuss major pending projects.
At the meeting, 13 participants including Joo Ho-young, floor leader, Lee Jong-bae, chairman of the Policy Committee, members of the Livelihood Policy Discovery Group, and local assembly members attended, where Mayor Kwon Young-jin discussed next year's national budget projects and policy issues for the region.
The main topics discussed included five projects (four new) that must be reflected in next year's national budget, such as infectious disease response, medical care, future vehicles, and water industry, as well as major pending issues like the preliminary feasibility study approval for the construction of the Daegu Urban Railway EXCO Line.
The five major national budget projects are ▲Establishment of a specialized infectious disease hospital in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area (new, total 40.9 billion KRW) ▲Creation of a COVID-19 Memory Space (new, total 2 billion KRW) ▲Construction of a pharmaceutical smart factory platform (new, total 35.3 billion KRW) ▲Establishment of a full-cycle support system for the motor industry (new, total 10 billion KRW) ▲Construction of the National Youth Career and Vocational Experience Training Center (continuing, total 53.7 billion KRW).
In addition, they brainstormed ways to secure budgets for a total of 36 national budget projects (22 new, 132.3 billion KRW) that were either not reflected or only partially included in the government proposal, such as the construction of a distributed testbed for the water industry (continuing, total 15.4 billion KRW), establishment of a medical technology testing and training institute (continuing, total 117 billion KRW), construction of a future vehicle digital convergence industry demonstration platform (new, total 41.5 billion KRW), and construction of the Dasa~Waegwan metropolitan road (continuing, total 237.9 billion KRW) at the National Assembly stage.
