Eunpyeong-gu Jungsan Information Library Wins Presidential Award in National Library Operation Evaluation
Eunpyeong-gu Jipsan Public Library Ranked 1st Among 1,093 Public Libraries Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) Jeungsan Information Library (Director Kim Sook-kyung) has been honored with the Presidential Citation in the ‘2020 National Library Operation Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The National Library Operation Evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Presidential Library Information Policy Committee to promote balanced growth and development of libraries nationwide.
This year, the evaluation covered a total of 2,309 libraries, including 1,093 public libraries as well as school, specialized, military, and prison libraries.
In this evaluation, Jeungsan Information Library in Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung), which ranked first in the national public library evaluation category, was highly praised for discovering cooperative reading programs between schools and public libraries that provide children with opportunities for self-directed learning, and for operating cooperative projects with facilities for the disabled to improve reading skills and raise awareness of disabilities.
