75 Schools Nationwide Closed for In-Person Classes... 12 Students and 1 Staff Member Newly Confirmed Positive
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), in-person classes were not held at 75 schools across 5 cities and provinces nationwide.
The Ministry of Education announced on the 30th at 10 a.m. that 75 schools had adjusted their in-person class days. The number of schools suspending in-person classes was 77 the previous day, marking the highest in a month, but decreased by 2 schools in one day.
By region, 48 schools (64%) were in Gyeonggi, and 21 schools (28%) were in Seoul. Additionally, 4 schools in Gangwon, and 1 school each in Gwangju and Chungnam were also unable to have students attend in person.
Since the phased return to school began on May 20, the cumulative number of students confirmed with COVID-19 reached 727 as of the previous day, an increase of 12 from the day before.
