Hampyeong Village Residents in Contact with COVID-19 Confirmed Case Test Negative So Far
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] All village residents who came into contact with a COVID-19 confirmed case in Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, have tested negative so far.
According to Hampyeong-gun on the 30th, Ms. A (female, 83) tested positive based on a specimen collected by the Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute the previous day and was classified as Jeonnam case number 185, then quarantined at Gangjin Medical Center.
Ms. A is presumed to have been infected after holding a family gathering at her home on the 25th, as she was a contact of Seoul Gangseo-gu case number 306 (her grandson).
From the 29th, she developed COVID-19 symptoms such as fever and cough, prompting the public health center’s specimen collection team to visit her home, collect specimens, and place her under self-quarantine.
The first test result was inconclusive, but the second test confirmed her positive diagnosis.
Immediately after being notified that Ms. A was a contact of Seoul Gangseo-gu case number 306, the county conducted emergency disinfection of her home and all identified movement paths.
Additionally, the county secured a statement that Ms. A attended a resident meeting related to fishery business registration at the village hall on the 27th, and COVID-19 tests were conducted on about 30 attendees and approximately 50 village residents, all of whom have tested negative so far.
Following an epidemiological investigation conducted with the Jeonnam Province rapid response team, the currently identified movement paths include her home, the village community center, Hampyeong Dolmeori Beach, and cafe Doll (near Dolmeori Beach).
The county has completed disinfection measures for these locations and is conducting emergency disinfection and testing at the school attended by students residing in the village.
