Police Officer Transferred to Prosecutors on Suspicion of Accepting Bribes to Cover Up Theft Case

The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 30th that they have sent Officer A of the Gwangju Dongbu Police Station to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on charges of accepting bribes and subsequent misconduct, after being booked without detention for receiving money in exchange for covering up a theft case.
Officer A is accused of receiving 2 million won from the owner of a coin karaoke room in Dong-gu, Gwangju, during the handling of a theft incident that occurred in May.
The karaoke room owner, who made an improper request not to process the case citing the employee's difficult situation, was also referred to the prosecution on charges including bribery.
