"The Most Dynamic Luxury SUV"... Genesis 'GV70' Design Revealed for the First Time
Genesis' Second SUV... Maximizing Dynamism with the '70 Lineup'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Genesis unveiled the interior and exterior design of the mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) 'GV70,' scheduled for release within the year, on the 29th. The GV70 aims to differentiate itself in the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV market by emphasizing luxury and dynamic design.
The GV70 is the fifth model among the six lineups Genesis plans to launch by 2021. It is the second SUV under the Genesis brand following the GV80, which was released in January, and is a city-oriented luxury SUV that highlights a dynamic image.
The front features a crest grille inspired by the shield of the Genesis logo, positioned lower than the headlamps to emphasize an aggressive image. The brand’s signature dual-line quad lamps maximize a sense of speed and dynamism, and a skid plate protecting the engine underside is applied to the lower bumper to create a robust impression. The side is characterized by the elegant parabolic line, an arching line crossing the body starting above the quad lamps, contrasted by the voluminous rear fender reminiscent of an athlete’s muscles.
The rear applies thin dual-line quad lamps, placing all functional elements on the bumper to complete a simple and pure image. Details are enhanced with a G-matrix pattern on the bumper and unique vertical exhaust outlets.
The interior is designed with a driver-centric layout. To maximize passenger comfort, it emphasizes the Korean concept of ‘beauty of empty space.’ The sporty interior design, inspired by the aerodynamic shape of an airplane wing, uses unique oval elements to create volume. Slim air vents and thin chrome lines crossing them extend to both doors, creating an enveloping feeling for passengers. The center features an expanded application of an LCD touchpad, minimizing the number of control buttons, which is also notable.
On this day, Genesis also introduced the GV70 Sport Package model, which further enhances sporty sensibility. It features a sport package-exclusive front bumper emphasizing dynamism and exclusive 21-inch wheels with a G-matrix pattern, while dark chrome garnish and large-diameter exhaust outlets maximize the sporty feel. The interior includes sport-exclusive trim colors and a dedicated steering wheel.
