[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Veteran trainer Oh Moon-sik (63 years old) of Korea Racing Authority Busan-Gyeongnam Racing Park has retired after more than 40 years on the beloved racetrack.
On the 24th, a retirement ceremony for Trainer Oh was held at LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam.
Oh debuted as a jockey in 1976 and began working as a trainer at Busan-Gyeongnam Racing Park in 2004, achieving 473 victories in 5,151 races over 17 years.
Based on his extensive experience and skills, he produced top star horses such as Namdochoegang, Dongseodaero, and Gyeongbudaero, and dominated prestigious competitions including the Grand Prix, President's Cup, and Busan Mayor's Cup 14 times, leading the popularization and sportsification of Korean horse racing and earning the attention and love of many racing fans.
Since 2018, he has served as the inaugural president of the Busan-Gyeongnam Trainers Association, dedicating efforts to the development of Busan-Gyeongnam racing.
Trainer Oh Moon-sik said, “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has accompanied me on this journey. Although Korean horse racing is facing unprecedented difficulties due to COVID-19, I hope that in times like these, we can trust and rely on each other and overcome challenges like racehorses.”
