Renault Samsung to Suspend Night Shifts from November... As a Measure to Control Supply
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Renault Samsung Motors has decided to reduce working hours at its Busan plant to control production volume.
According to industry sources on the 28th, Renault Samsung's Busan plant will eliminate night shifts from the 10th to the 30th of next month.
The plant will be closed on the 2nd and 3rd of next month. Accordingly, the day and night shifts will complete normal work by the 4th to 6th, and from the 10th only the day shift will work.
This decision to shorten working hours is a measure to control volume for proper inventory management. Whether normal operations will resume in December will be decided based on sales performance in November.
Renault Samsung Motors is known to have accumulated a large inventory due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Last month, Renault Samsung Motors sold 7,386 units in domestic and overseas markets, a 51.4% decrease compared to the same month last year.
