Q3 Stay-at-Home Life 'Home Appliances' Popularity... Garment Care Devices Grow 151%
Analysis of Electronics Sales Volume by Electron Land in Q3
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] In the third quarter of this year, it was found that purchases of home appliances that help comfortable home life increased due to the longest rainy season in history and social distancing level 2.
Electroland announced on the 28th that an analysis of home appliance sales in the third quarter of this year showed a prominent trend of 'wise home-staying life,' with many home appliances that help with home life being sold.
Compared to the same period last year, sales of clothing care devices increased by 151%, dishwashers by 88%, PCs by 60%, electric ranges by 28%, dryers by 23%, and TVs and wireless vacuum cleaners each by 17%. In particular, clothing care devices showed a steady growth trend this year, recording a 32% sales increase compared to the second quarter.
In the third quarter, due to the longest rainy season in history and continued humid weather, home appliances that help with laundry, such as dryers and clothing care devices, gained popularity. Also, as the time spent eating at home increased, sales of home appliances that reduce cooking and dishwashing labor, such as dishwashers and electric ranges, increased. With more people enjoying cultural activities at home, entertainment appliances like PCs and TVs also performed well.
An Electroland official said, "Since it is expected to take considerable time until the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is completely eradicated, this trend in home appliance sales is likely to continue for a while," adding, "New changes and opportunities are coming to the home appliance industry."
