iPhone 12 Hotspot Tethering Now Faster
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Reports have emerged that the hotspot tethering speed of the iPhone 12, officially scheduled for release in South Korea at the end of this month, has become faster.
IT specialized media outlets PhoneArena and MacRumors reported this on the 27th (local time), citing iOS developer Steve Moser and YouTuber Aaron Zollo.
The iPhone 12 will support personal hotspot tethering via 5GHz Wi-Fi. Aaron Zollo recently posted on his SNS, "I confirmed that the hotspot switches from 5GHz to 2.4GHz in the newly maximized compatibility settings of the iPhone 12," adding, "This is important when using 5G at speeds exceeding the 2.4GHz specification."

For older iPhone models, both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are possible, but Wi-Fi is mainly known to operate at 2.4GHz. PhoneArena noted, "The 5GHz frequency offers faster speeds but has a narrower coverage," but considering the nature of personal hotspots where the smartphone is in close proximity, this is not expected to be an issue.
