Tourism Organization and Hadong-gun Launch Pilot Project to Revitalize Night Tourism in Small and Medium Cities
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 26th that it will promote a pilot project to enhance the competitiveness of local nighttime tourism in Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam Province.
Since this year, the Tourism Organization has been focusing on nighttime tourism as a key project to disperse tourists across regions. Recently, it held a selection committee for consulting on revitalizing nighttime tourism in small and medium-sized cities and finally selected Hadong-gun as the pilot project site. Consulting on improvement measures and business directions is scheduled to be conducted by the end of December.
To promote the pilot project, an analysis of the current status of nighttime tourism readiness, investigation of excellent overseas nighttime tourism cases, in-depth interviews, expert consultations, and effect analysis will be conducted to establish specific improvement measures and short- and mid-to-long-term business directions.

Kwon Byung-jeon, head of the Nighttime Tourism Task Force (TF) at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "Nighttime tourism is a good catalyst for revitalizing local tourism," adding, "Once the COVID-19 situation stabilizes, we will actively develop unique and distinctive nighttime tourism products in small and medium-sized cities by conducting familiarization tours with specialized travel agencies."
