Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Wins Order for 3 Ships Worth 240 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate holding company for shipbuilding under Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, has succeeded in securing orders for ultra-large crude oil carriers and petrochemical carriers (PC ships).
Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering announced on the 26th that it recently signed construction contracts worth a total of 240 billion KRW, including two 300,000-ton ultra-large crude oil carriers (VLCC) and one 50,000-ton petrochemical product carrier (PC ship) from shipping companies based in Africa and Europe, respectively.
The newly ordered ultra-large crude oil carriers and petrochemical product carrier will be built at Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard's Ulsan headquarters and are scheduled to be delivered sequentially to the shipowners starting from January 2022. Following the order of four VLCCs at the end of last September, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured an additional two vessels within about a month.
