[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The majority of agricultural products distributed in the agricultural wholesale market in the Busan area were found to be safe according to pesticide residue test results.
The Busan Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 25th that 99.5% of agricultural products passed the pesticide residue safety inspection in the third quarter of this year.
The Health and Environment Research Institute conducted a total of 1,057 tests on agricultural products brought into and distributed at the Eomgung-dong and Banyeo agricultural wholesale markets, with 1,052 passing and 5 failing the inspection.
The agricultural products exceeding the pesticide residue permissible limits were 3 cases of perilla leaves, 1 case of lettuce, and 1 case of Swiss chard, all of which were agricultural products brought into the wholesale market before auction.
The detected substances were mainly fungicides and insecticides such as Fenitrothion, Chlorothalonil, Procymidone, Fenoxanil, and Thifluzamide.
The Health and Environment Research Institute confiscated and disposed of all 248 kg of agricultural products found to contain pesticide residues exceeding the permissible limits. Producers were reported to the relevant administrative authorities for administrative action.
