[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Gyeongsangbuk-do held the 'Baekdudaegan Humanities Camp,' a Gyeongbuk tour with celebrities, on the 24th at Gyeongcheon Island in Sangju, inviting Professor Seokyung Deok from Sungshin Women's University.
The 'Baekdudaegan Humanities Camp' is Gyeongsangbuk-do's representative tourism experience program aimed at spreading the atmosphere of humanities tourism as part of humanities celebrity marketing linked with tourist attractions by combining humanities with tourism.
This humanities camp was held on the 25th, Dokdo Day, with the theme "Creativity and Challenge, Changing the World," inviting Professor Seokyung Deok, who has been leading efforts to promote Korea's history and culture worldwide for 25 years.
During the 1-night 2-day schedule, on the first day, Professor Seokyung Deok experienced dried persimmons and Nakdong River canoeing in Sangju, a region nurtured by the Nakdong River, and met the 15th generation descendant of Seokcheon Kim Gak, the first militia leader, participating in an event to donate woodblocks containing the teacher's collected works to the Sangju Museum.
Professor Seokyung Deok said, "I have visited Sangju before, but the Sangju I met today was very special," adding, "It was a very meaningful time to witness the donation of relics to the Sangju Museum by meeting the descendants of Seokcheon Kim Gak, an unknown militia leader of Sangui-gun."
In his lecture, Professor Seokyung Deok introduced anecdotes about placing Dokdo advertisements in newspapers such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, which are the most widely subscribed to and trusted by people worldwide, and creating Dokdo advertisements in New York Times Square, which caused a great sensation.
He emphasized, "The greatest enemy of historical issues is our indifference. In the global era, it is necessary not only to view our history as our own but also to have a perspective that looks at the world through our history. Geographically and under international law, Dokdo is naturally our territory, so rather than simply delivering the message that Dokdo is Korean land, it is most important to naturally promote Dokdo worldwide through culture and tourism content."
