The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a win-win regional job review committee on the 20th and finalized the decision.
The Gyeongnam Miryang-type Job Project will create 245 new jobs by 2023 with an investment of 128.1 billion KRW from 8 companies in the Hanam General Industrial Complex, and plans to realize additional investment and employment by 18 companies by 2025. In total, 26 companies will invest 340.3 billion KRW to create 505 new jobs.
This project is an achievement realized through a win-win agreement between local residents and participating companies aiming for continuous environmental preservation, addressing the biggest issues of the root industry: environmental pollution and opposition to site establishment. It is evaluated as establishing a foundation for the re-leap of the root industry by presenting a new future development model for Korea’s root industry through the creation of an eco-friendly smart industrial complex.
Park Il-ho, Mayor of Miryang, said, “We plan to work together with resident companies, local residents, and workers to successfully complete the Gyeongnam Miryang-type Job Project, and create an eco-friendly industrial complex representing Korea to become the mecca of the domestic root industry.”
