Jeonnam Provincial Council Conducts On-site Legislative Activities at Facilities Closely Related to Residents' Lives
Promotion of Customized Safety Measures for On-Site Inspections of Bridges, Fire Rescue, CCTV, and More
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Council has embarked on on-site inspections to implement customized safety measures through checks of facilities closely related to residents' daily lives.
The Safety, Construction, and Firefighting Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 21st that from the 20th to the 21st, they conducted field visits and legislative activities at the Yi Sun-sin Bridge Maintenance Office, Yeosu Fire Station 119 Chemical Rescue Team, and Yeosu City CCTV Integrated Control Center.
First, on the 20th, they visited the Yi Sun-sin Bridge Maintenance Office to hear about the operational status and inspected the site to check overall management conditions of the Yi Sun-sin Bridge, including overweight vehicle control and maintenance.
The Yi Sun-sin Bridge was the first in Korea to introduce epoxy pavement on a cable-stayed bridge, but frequent damage has occurred due to temperature changes and heavy vehicle traffic, leading to ongoing safety concerns. Currently, the optimal pavement material suitable for the bridge is being selected.
Chairperson Choi Mugyeong ordered, "Since the Yi Sun-sin Bridge is a critical national infrastructure connecting the Yeosu Industrial Complex and Gwangyang Industrial Complex for transportation and logistics, prepare permanent repair and reinforcement measures based on the results of the special product pavement currently being tested."
Next, they visited the Yeosu Fire Station 119 Chemical Rescue Team to inspect their readiness for dispatch and listen to difficulties, urging them to maintain a swift response posture to prevent safety blind spots, considering Yeosu City's characteristics as the largest petrochemical complex in the country.
Chairperson Choi emphasized, "The purpose of this on-site legislative activity is to collect various opinions from the field and incorporate them into provincial administration," adding, "We will continue to carry out field-centered legislative activities to reflect the voices of residents in policies."
