Ministry of Science and ICT Opens 'Digital Healthcare Special Pavilion'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Ministry of Science and ICT is opening a ‘Digital Healthcare Special Pavilion’ at the International Hospital & Medical Industry Expo to present a blueprint for the future healthcare market.
At the Digital Healthcare Seminar held today, the 21st, the Ministry of Science and ICT will outline the direction of ‘medical artificial intelligence’ and exhibit the research and development achievements of ‘Doctor Answer’ and the ‘Precision Medical Hospital Information System’.
Doctor Answer is an AI precision medical software developed over the past three years with a total investment of 48.8 billion KRW by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the private sector, involving 26 domestic medical institutions. The Precision Medical Hospital Information System (P-HIS) is a system jointly invested in by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Health and Welfare over five years with a total of 30.8 billion KRW (approximately 20 billion KRW from the government and 10.8 billion KRW from the private sector).
Song Kyung-hee, Director of Software Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “This event will be a great opportunity to confirm the excellence of domestically produced ‘AI precision medical software.’ The Ministry of Science and ICT, together with related ministries, will systematically support the convergence of information and communication technology (ICT) and healthcare to establish a foundation that provides high-quality medical services to the public.”

The International Hospital & Medical Industry Expo is organized by the Korea Hospital Association and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and others. It has been held annually since 2003 and is now in its 15th edition. This year’s event, themed ‘Post-COVID-19 and Future Healthcare,’ will take place from the 21st to the 23rd at COEX.
