A university is operating a humanities program combined with the sea city of Busan, gaining popularity.
This is the '2020 Busan Humanities Project: Busan, Falling into the Humanities Sea,' which combines humanities and the sea, organized by the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group at Pukyong National University (Director Son Dong-joo).
Participating in this project are 21 organizations including Pukyong National University's HK+ Project Group, Busan Humanities Alliance, universities, research institutes, and humanities-related organizations, with support from Busan City, Busan Cultural Foundation, and the National Research Foundation of Korea. The project offers various humanities programs such as lectures, forums, and experiences for citizens.
Started on the 21st of last month, this project will run a total of 53 programs until December 15.
Due to COVID-19, each program is conducted with a small number of participants, and so far, over 80 citizens have participated.
The project's 'Walking Busan History Along the Subway' is a humanities history experience program that learns about Busan's modern and contemporary history centered on the Busan subway.
On the 23rd of last month, 'Walking the Historical Traces of Dongnae (Suan Station)' and on the 7th, 'Walking the History of Busan Fisheries, Beaches, and Nature (Osiria Station)' were held.
From next month, explorations such as 'Walking the History of Gupo Japanese Fortress and Gamdongchang (Deokcheon Station),' 'Walking the Greater East Asia War and Japanese Fortifications (Kyungsung University-Pukyong National University Station),' and 'Visiting Religious Holy Sites and Walking Hoedong Reservoir (Dusil Station)' will continue.
In the 'Humanities with Seniors' program, targeting local elderly, a lecture titled 'COVID Blue from the Perspective of a Psychoanalysis Expert' was held on the 15th, followed by diverse programs such as 'Seniors Learning about YouTube and Algorithms' on the 28th, and 'Seniors! Would You Like to Play Games Together?' on the 4th of next month.
