From Goheung to Gangwon... Nowon-gu Direct Market Booming
From the 22nd to 24th at Junggye Neighborhood Park in Junggye-dong, the 'Clean Goheung Agricultural and Marine Specialty Products Exhibition' will be held with 30 farms (companies) participating and about 100 items prepared... From the 29th to 31st, the Gangwon Direct Market 'Roll! Potato Expedition' will be held, featuring cabbage and more in preparation for kimchi season.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will hold direct transaction markets consecutively at Junggye Neighborhood Park (Junggye-dong) to help farmers struggling with a sharp decline in consumption and to provide residents with fresh and safe food.
First is the 'Clean Goheung Agricultural and Marine Specialty Products Exhibition.'
Thirty farms (companies) participated in this event. They will sell a total of about 100 various agricultural, marine, and specialty products, including Goheung specialties such as yuzu and pomegranate, barley sprouts, seaweed, miyeok (wakame), gamtae (brown seaweed), jackbean, kudzu tea, salted seafood, and loess underwear.
The market will operate for three days from the 22nd to the 24th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Products can be purchased at prices 10-30% cheaper than market prices.
Following that, from the 29th to the 31st, the Gangwon-do direct transaction market 'Roll! Potato Expedition' will be held. Fourteen traditional markets, seven producer groups, and the Nowon Gangwon Residents Association will participate, operating a total of 36 booths, including the Hoengseong Hanwoo specialty vehicle.
In preparation for kimchi-making season, various items will be sold, including cabbage, red pepper powder, Jerusalem artichoke, Abai sundae (blood sausage), gondre (wild thistle), chwinamul (aster scaber), deodeok (Codonopsis lanceolata), dried pollack, gondre, chwinamul, bee tree, astragalus, and butterbur?specialty products that are usually hard to find in supermarkets. On the first day of the event, the 29th, 'Gangwon Market TV' will be broadcast on YouTube from 1 to 3 p.m., offering at least a 20% discount compared to market prices during the broadcast.
For convenience, both cash and credit card payments will be accepted at this direct transaction market. To ensure consumers can purchase with confidence, product names, specifications, prices, and origins will be displayed, and business cards will be provided for future individual purchases.
Additionally, to prevent COVID-19 infection, temperature checks will be conducted at the market entrance, and hand sanitizers will be provided. Residents are urged to wear masks and maintain social distancing to ensure safe market use.
