According to the Gimcheon Police Station, around 10:30 p.m. on the 18th, a man in his 50s, Mr. A, who was hospitalized on the 6th floor of Gimcheon Jeil Hospital, stabbed a female caregiver in her 60s and another patient hospitalized in the same room with a weapon inside the hospital room. He then set fire to the bed sheets with a lighter he had, causing burns to three people and prompting about 30 others to evacuate.
The fire was extinguished by the hospital staff before firefighters arrived. The three patients who suffered burns are in their 60s to 80s, and the burns are reported to be relatively minor. After causing the disturbance, Mr. A left the hospital room and was arrested on the spot by police while moving through the corridor.
