2020 Hana Financial Group Championship Confirmed for Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Hana Financial Group will hold the ‘2020 Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Hana Financial Group Championship’ next month.
Hana Financial announced on the 19th that the tournament will be held for four days starting from the 5th of next month at the Sky72 Ocean Course in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.
This tournament is the largest in Korea with a total prize money of 1.5 billion KRW. It is organized by the incorporated association ‘Asia Golf Leaders Forum (AGLF)’, which was officially launched in January to promote the advancement of Asian women's golf. It is also the first tournament to mark the official launch of the Ladies Asian Tour series.
The tournament was originally scheduled for last month but was postponed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and decided to be held without spectators. Considering the reduced number of domestic tournaments due to COVID-19, the Hana Financial Group Championship Organizing Committee consulted with the KLPGA and decided to provide more opportunities for domestic players to participate in this tournament, finalizing the entry list on the 12th.
A considerable number of players ranked within the top 50 in the world currently active on the LPGA Tour have joined, forming a ‘superstar lineup’ rarely seen in the KLPGA Tour.
Among the 96 participants, including permanent seed holder Lee Bo-mi, 13 major tournament winners from the past four years will compete. Included are world number one Ko Jin-young and LPGA Tour members Yoo So-yeon, Lee Jeong-eun 6, and Kim Hyo-joo. Domestic players such as Kim Ji-hyun, Kim Hae-rim, Park Chae-yoon, Ahn Si-hyun, Oh Ji-hyun, Lee Da-yeon, Lee Seung-hyun, Lim Hee-jung, Jang Soo-yeon, Jang Ha-na, and Choi Hye-jin will also participate. Hong Jin-joo and Choi Na-yeon, past champions of the tournament’s predecessor, the LPGA Tour ‘Hana Bank Championship’, will also join.
