"Innovative Products Should Be Purchased First by Public Institutions"
Busan City Creates Forum to Discuss 'Innovative Procurement' for Local Companies
Meeting on the 19th Between Innovative Prototypes and Prospective Innovative Procurement Companies
Plan to Support Market Expansion for Innovative Products of Local SME
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Discussions on public institutions purchasing innovative products launched by companies first will take place in Busan.
Busan City will hold an ‘Innovative Procurement Companies Meeting’ at 2 p.m. on the 19th in the large conference room on the first floor of City Hall.
This meeting was organized through collaboration between Busan City and the Busan Regional Public Procurement Service to support innovative procurement companies in line with the global trend that ‘the initial purchaser of innovative products should be the public sector.’
‘Innovative procurement’ is a policy where the public sector proactively purchases new products to support technological innovation and innovative growth, and to improve the quality of public services.
Through the innovative prototype purchase system, the public sector becomes the initial purchaser, using and testing innovative products before commercialization and supporting commercialization based on test results.
Ten companies already selected as innovative prototype companies will participate in this meeting: Iplusone Co., Ltd. (Radar Beacon Navigation Equipment), Noah Electronics (Vehicle Entrapment Prevention Alarm System), Vision Tech Co., Ltd. (Connection Terminal Block), Eco Air System Co., Ltd. (Air Purification Circulation Device), Sharpgot Co., Ltd. (Smart Fire Extinguisher), Korea Environmental Machinery Co., Ltd. (Sewage Sludge Reduction Mixed Waste Processor), Minyoung Paper (Eco-friendly Paper Straw), The GL (Permeable Layer Block), Treksta Co., Ltd. (Winter Shoes with Anti-fall Spike), and Korea Water Technology Co., Ltd. (Electric Penetration Dehydration Dry Solidifier). Additionally, 12 regional representative technology companies recommended by Busan Technopark and Korea South-East Power Co. as prospective innovative procurement companies will also participate.
The meeting will continue with an explanation of the innovative prototype pilot purchase system by the Busan Regional Public Procurement Service and announcements of Busan City’s newly launched innovative procurement activation policies for this year.
It will gather difficulties and suggestions from participating companies and explore ways to develop support for regional innovative procurement companies through direct Q&A between companies and institutions.
Byun Sung-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, said, “I hope this meeting will be an opportunity for regional technology companies to achieve innovative growth and increased sales through public procurement, and that the quality of public services will also be enhanced through innovative procurement.”
