Yeonggwang-gun to Conduct 'Population and Housing Census' Until the 18th of Next Month
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 16th that it will conduct a Population and Housing Census targeting all domestic and foreign residents living in the area until the 18th of next month.
The Population and Housing Census, conducted by the county under the supervision of Statistics Korea, is a national statistic conducted every five years to collect comprehensive information on population, households, and housing, which is used as basic data for establishing major national policies.
The survey items include 45 categories such as individual basic information, housing form, and housing type. Especially this year, new survey items reflecting policy demands and social changes have been added, including safety and environment, companion animals, activity restrictions, and reasons for single-person households.
The full census targeting the entire population is conducted as a registration census using administrative data such as resident registration, and more in-depth data such as economic activities and commuting or schooling are surveyed as a sample survey targeting 20% of the population.
The county will first conduct a non-face-to-face survey via internet and telephone until the 31st, and from the 1st to the 18th of next month, investigators will visit households that did not respond to conduct face-to-face interviews.
During the face-to-face interview period, participation in the internet and telephone surveys is also possible.
A total of 10,317 households have been selected as sample targets, and survey notification letters have been sent by mail to the target households. Those who participate in the internet and telephone surveys during the survey period will be entered into a draw to receive a mobile gift certificate worth approximately 30,000 KRW.
Earlier, the county recruited 70 surveyors and conducted training on survey guidelines, tablet PC usage, and safety rules for the surveyors from the 14th to the 15th.
