University club students dreaming of starting a business combined their scholarship prize from an external startup competition with their advisor’s personal funds to generously donate 1 million won to the university development fund.
The startup club D.I.Company (Team Leader: Cho Hong-rae, 4th year International Logistics, Advisor: Professor Kim Young-soo, International Logistics) under Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop)’s Social Customized Industry-Academia Cooperation Leading University (LINC+) project team made the donation. The D.I.Company members expressed gratitude for the university’s active support and agreed to contribute to the revitalization of the university’s entrepreneurship education.
The scholarship money came from advancing to the finals of this year’s “Student Startup Promising Teams 300.” Professor Kim Young-soo also added his own funds to reach the total of 1 million won, moved by the students’ admirable spirit.
On October 15, the 1 million won was handed over to the university president in the Dongmyung University president’s office. President Jeong Hong-seop, Vice President Shin Dong-seok, LINC+ Project Deputy Director Ha Sun-cheol, and Professor Kim Young-soo of the International Logistics Department applauded the occasion.
Team leader Cho Hong-rae said, “Thanks to the support from the Startup Education Center, we actively participated in entrepreneurship education and were able to advance to the finals of the Student Startup Promising Teams 300 in July. Although it is a small amount, I hope it will be used meaningfully for the entrepreneurship education and support of future students.”
The Dongmyung University LINC+ project team decided to use this development fund as a seed for entrepreneurship education. Vice President Shin Dong-seok, who serves as the project team leader, expressed gratitude to Professor Kim Young-soo and the students who guided the startup club. “Thank you for practicing sharing to promote a culture of entrepreneurship.”
President Jeong Hong-seop said, “Active startup club activities will be a great help for employment and entrepreneurship after graduation,” and added, “The spirit of generosity in not sparing the prize money earned through passion for the sake of other students is beautiful.”
D.I.Company, composed of 4th-year students Cho Hong-rae, Kim Min-jae, Kim Sung-yoon, Ahn Kwang-ho, and 3rd-year students Kim Mi-joo and Jeong Seo-hee from the International Logistics Department, submitted a startup item called ‘NFC Security Guard Log,’ a web-based independent server security and patrol system with enhanced security and customer customization, and advanced to the finals of the Student Startup Promising Teams 300 in July.
