Seoul COVID-19 Cases Increase by 18 Yesterday... New Cluster Infections at Call Centers and Marts

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As new small-scale cluster infections have occurred mainly in call centers, large supermarkets, and door-to-door sales companies, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul increased by 18 yesterday.
Seoul City announced on the 16th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 18 compared to the previous day, bringing the total cumulative number of confirmed cases to 5,650.
In Seoul, four small-scale cluster infection cases were confirmed in one day.
At a call center located in Jung-gu, after one family member of an employee was first confirmed positive on the 13th, one employee was confirmed on the 14th, and three more employees tested positive on the 15th, increasing the total related confirmed cases to five. The quarantine authorities are conducting tests on 102 people, including employees of this call center, their families, and acquaintances who had contact with them.
At Emart Sangbong branch in Jungnang-gu, after one employee was first confirmed positive on the 13th, five more were confirmed on the 14th, and one more on the 15th, increasing the total related confirmed cases to seven. Among them, six are confirmed cases in Seoul.
Among the confirmed cases on this day, one person was additionally confirmed at Jamun Medical Equipment in Songpa-gu (cumulative total 6), and one person was additionally confirmed related to a door-to-door sales company in Yeongdeungpo-gu (cumulative total 8).
In addition, one case is related to overseas contact, seven cases are classified under other infection routes, and four cases are under investigation for infection routes.
So far in Seoul, 5,091 people have been declared recovered and discharged, and 492 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
