Jeonbuk Reports 2 New COVID-19 Cases... Total Now 155
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] Two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Jeonju, Jeonbuk.
This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jeonbuk to 155.
According to Jeonbuk health authorities on the 15th, Patient No. 154 in Jeonbuk, Mr. A (in his 30s, Jeonju), was a contact of Patient No. 133 (in his 30s, confirmed on the 5th, Jeongeup) and had been in self-quarantine since the 2nd.
He tested positive in the final COVID-19 test conducted before the end of his self-quarantine and has been transferred to Gunsan Medical Center.
Mr. A’s spouse and son, who were also classified as contacts of Patient No. 133 and were in self-quarantine together, tested negative in tests conducted before their quarantine was lifted.
Since the occurrence of Patient No. 133, the total number of confirmed cases originating from ‘Jeongeup Yangji Village’ has increased to 13.
Graduate student Mr. B (in his 30s, Jeonju), an Egyptian national, also tested positive for COVID-19 on the same day, becoming the 155th confirmed case in Jeonbuk.
It is known that Patient B visited the one-room apartment of Patient No. 153 in Jeonbuk (overseas case No. 45, Egyptian national, confirmed on the 14th) on the 1st. The exact route of infection is under investigation, and before his final COVID-19 confirmation, Mr. B reportedly visited a prayer house and his graduate research lab.
Notably, despite experiencing muscle pain symptoms since the 11th, he visited a supermarket, hospital, and pharmacy, and also used public transportation, raising significant concerns about further spread within the community.

Mr. B is scheduled to be admitted to Gunsan Medical Center on the 16th. The provincial health authorities are checking Mr. B’s mobile phone GPS and credit card usage records to identify additional movement paths and contacts.
