Netflix September Card Payments Reach 46.2 Billion Won... Record High
Over 60% of Paid Users Are in Their 20s and 30s
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Netflix's credit and debit card payments in September reached 46.2 billion KRW, marking an all-time high.
Application analysis service WiseApp announced on the 13th the estimated amount of Netflix payments made by Koreans in September. According to WiseApp's sample survey of credit and debit card payments by Koreans aged 20 and over, the total payment amount reached a record high of 46.2 billion KRW, with an estimated 3.36 million payers.
Previously, in September 2018, Netflix payments amounted to 6.3 billion KRW with 490,000 payers, which increased to 24.1 billion KRW and 1.84 million payers in September last year. This year, the figures represent a 92% and 83% increase respectively compared to the same period last year.
As of September, the average monthly payment per Netflix subscriber in Korea was 13,775 KRW. Among the payers, those in their 20s accounted for 38%, 30s for 25%, 40s for 19%, and those aged 50 and above for 18%.

In Korea, Netflix payments are made not only via card but also through telecom providers who bundle Netflix fees, or via iTunes payments. Including these customers, the total number of Netflix paid users and payment amounts are expected to be even higher.
