Dobong-gu Operates Programs for Students, Parents, and Instructors to Overcome COVID-19 Blues
On the 17th and 24th, various outdoor programs for students such as Bubble & Magic and Applied Jump Rope will be held... On the 20th, Healing Yoga and Violin Concert for Parents will be hosted
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) is operating the autumn-themed Dobong-style village after-school special program "Mujigae Playground" for students who are physically and mentally exhausted from prolonged online learning.
The Mujigae Playground program, held over three sessions starting from the 17th, will take place at Dobongsan and Choansan, utilizing Dobong-gu's natural environment, considering the difficulty of using school classrooms and indoor spaces due to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
Earlier, the district operated the Dobong-style village after-school special program "Mujigae Playground" during the summer vacation in August.
In response to parents' positive feedback such as "I was worried about childcare during the children's summer vacation, so I hope programs like this are held frequently," and concerns like "It is unfortunate that children who should be playing outside are stuck at home due to COVID, and the forced childcare has caused a lot of stress," Mujigae Playground Season 2 was prepared.
In Mujigae Playground Season 2, Dobong-gu after-school instructors prepared various outdoor activity programs including ▲ Bubble & Magic ▲ Mission Completion ▲ Advanced Jump Rope ▲ Challenge 100 Seconds ▲ Charades ▲ Sitting Volleyball, allowing children to engage in physical activities they usually lack.
Additionally, on the 20th, a special Dobongsan Healing Yoga & Concert (yoga meditation, violin performance) will be held for parents, providing an opportunity to relieve stress for parents exhausted from childcare.
The district expects this program to serve as a chance for students and parents to overcome COVID blues, and in the absence of after-school classes, it hopes to create some opportunities for instructors to engage in activities.
Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, "The impact of COVID on the public is so significant that a new term 'COVID blues' has emerged," and added, "We will operate this special program while strictly adhering to prevention guidelines, hoping it will be an opportunity for students, parents, and after-school instructors to overcome COVID blues."
Applications are open from 10 a.m. on the 12th until the 13th through Dobong-gu's education portal site Dobong Baeum-e. The program is open to 192 elementary school students residing in Dobong-gu and 16 parents of elementary, middle, and high school students, recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.
