'KakaoPay Point' Launches... Payment Service Revamp
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao Pay announced on the 12th that it will implement a payment service overhaul, including the introduction of 'Kakao Pay Points.'
Kakao Pay stated that it will sequentially open a revamped payment user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) from today, allowing users to view discount and reward benefits, merchant locations, and other information at a glance.
Kakao Pay emphasized coupons and discount benefits prominently in the payment UX to ensure users do not miss out on benefits from merchants across all retail sectors, from convenience stores to department stores, as well as expanded areas such as food and beverage, culture, travel, transportation, and home appliances.
For offline payments, the 'Payment' barcode, 'Membership' barcode, and 'Coupon Box' are arranged at the top of the screen for immediate access. Users can download desired coupons from the 'Coupons Available for Immediate Use' section and conveniently apply them during payment without going through multiple steps.
Merchant locations are also easier to identify. By selecting the map icon next to the coupon box, Kakao Pay payment merchants appear on the map based on the user's location.
After payment is completed, the system displays Al rewards, discount details, points and membership accumulation records, and whether a cash receipt has been automatically issued, allowing users to instantly check the value of the benefits they received.
For online payments, discount benefits provided by merchants are automatically applied. The payment screen shows the product price, discount details, and the total amount to be paid at a glance.
Both online and offline payment screens place necessary payment information at the top and payment methods at the bottom to provide a consistent user experience.
The camera for scanning the QR code of the SOHO payment kit is minimized as an icon at the top center, allowing use whenever needed. Cards registered as payment methods also display user-set nicknames to enhance convenience.
A new 'Kakao Pay Points' system will be established to connect various Kakao Pay services and provide more systematic payment benefits. It is scheduled to be officially launched in November.
'Kakao Pay Points' is Kakao Pay's unique point system that can be earned as rewards for participating in events or using services such as payment, remittance, investment, insurance, and loans, and can be used when paying with Kakao Pay. It can hold up to 2 million points separately from Kakao Pay Money and can be used starting from 1 point.
