The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that the second application period for the Youth Special Job-Seeking Support Fund will run from the 12th to the 24th of this month.
The Youth Special Job-Seeking Support Fund project targets low-income and unemployed youth who have participated or plan to participate in job-seeking support programs such as the Employment Success Package (Chwiseongpae).
This project, funded with an additional 102.5 billion KRW from the 4th supplementary budget, originally aimed to support 200,000 youth. The Ministry of Employment and Labor paid 500,000 KRW to about 40,000 first-round applicants last month. Accordingly, approximately 160,000 second-round applicants are expected to receive the support fund.
The support fund is paid once in cash at 500,000 KRW. If desired, employment counseling, job placement, and other employment support services are provided, and it can be linked to education in new technology fields.
During the second application period, those who have completed, are currently participating in, or are newly joining job-seeking support programs can apply. Even if they did not previously participate in job-seeking support programs, those who join the Employment Success Package by the 24th can apply for the support fund.
Youth who received notification texts as first-round applicants but did not apply during the first application period can also apply during this period.
However, if the number of eligible applicants exceeds the budget limit (200,000 people), priority will be applied to distribute funds within the budget range.
Applications and submissions are accepted only through the 'Online Youth Center' website. To prevent system overload, a day-of-week system will be implemented.
Based on the last digit of the resident registration number birth year, those ending in 1 or 6 can apply on Monday; 2 or 7 on Tuesday; 3 or 8 on Wednesday; 4 or 9 on Thursday; 5 or 0 on Friday; and everyone can apply on Saturday and Sunday. However, the day-of-week system may be lifted depending on the application status.
Once the application is completed, eligibility will be reviewed, including verification of employment or entrepreneurship status.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to notify applicants of the processing results via text message or AlimTalk around mid-November, and if applicants are not eligible, the reasons will also be provided.
If there are objections to the processing results, applicants can file an appeal from November 18 to 22. After review and reflection, the support funds are planned to be paid at the end of November.
Jang Geun-seop, Youth Employment Policy Officer at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, stated, "We hope this will help youth who have a strong intention to seek employment but are facing difficulties due to COVID-19 in their job-seeking activities and livelihood stabilization."
Earlier, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that a total of 43,866 people applied during the first application period last month, and after review, 40,947 people received the support fund.
Among the 41,400 first-round recipients, 453 have not received payments due to account number errors. The Ministry plans to correct errors and pay the support funds by the 24th.
