Jeonnam Province Provides Emergency Living Expenses Support for COVID-19 Crisis Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 11th that it will actively identify low-income crisis households to ensure no blind spots occur in the COVID-19 emergency damage support program and provide emergency living expenses.
This support applies to crisis households whose income has decreased by 25% or more due to COVID-19 and whose income is 75% or less of the standard median income. The property ownership must be 350 million KRW or less in city areas and 300 million KRW or less in county areas.
The support amount is based on the household members registered as of September 9: 400,000 KRW for a single-person household, 600,000 KRW for a two-person household, 800,000 KRW for a three-person household, and 1,000,000 KRW for households of four or more.
Households already receiving support through existing welfare systems or COVID-19 damage support programs are excluded.
Excluded households include those receiving basic living security benefits and emergency welfare living support, as well as emergency employment stabilization subsidies, Small Business New Hope Funds, closed store re-challenge encouragement funds, worker employment retention subsidies, youth special employment support programs, job-seeking benefits, and employment response special support projects.
Applications are accepted from the 12th to the 30th and operate on a "day-of-the-week system" based on the last digit of the birth year.
Online applications can be made by the head of the household on the ‘Bokjiro’ website, Korea’s representative welfare portal. On-site applications are available from the 19th to the 30th at the resident centers of the applicant’s address in eup, myeon, or dong.
When applying, it is mandatory to attach supporting documents such as withholding tax receipts and certificates verifying employment, wages, unpaid leave, and income reduction.
Payments will be made once in cash to the application account from mid-November to the end of December after verification of income and property.
For more details, check the Bokjiro website or contact the call center at 129 or the resident centers in eup, myeon, or dong of the city or county.
