30,000 Visitors Expected on the 11th... 140,000 People Likely to Visit Jeju Island Over Four Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The number of tourists visiting Jeju Island during the Hangul Day holiday reached 110,000.
According to the Jeju Tourism Association on the 11th, the number of visitors arriving in Jeju from the 8th to the 10th, one day before Hangul Day, was counted at 110,126. By date, there were 39,888 visitors on the 8th, 42,933 on the 9th, and 27,305 on the 10th.
Jeju Island had expected about 100,000 tourists to visit over the four days from the 8th to the 11th. However, this number was surpassed in just three days. On the last day of the holiday, the 11th, approximately 30,000 tourists are expected to visit Jeju, bringing the total number of tourists over the four-day Hangul Day holiday to around 140,000.
Fortunately, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Jeju Island so far. According to data released by health authorities on this day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jeju up to yesterday remains zero.
However, the local health authorities remain on high alert. They plan to continue operating a special entry procedure requiring mandatory COVID-19 testing for visitors showing fever symptoms until the last day of the Hangul Day holiday.
Tourists and visitors entering through Jeju International Airport and Jeju Port who have a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher must undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing and are required to quarantine until the test results are confirmed.

Since many tourists visited Jeju due to the consecutive Chuseok and Hangul Day holidays, the province has designated the period until the 18th as a special quarantine risk management period and plans to continue high-intensity post-quarantine management.
